About Eric & Patrick
Hardywood Park Craft Brewery co-founders Eric McKay and Patrick Murtaugh bonded over water from an early age, first around a lake in Connecticut, which set the stage for a lifelong friendship, business partnership, and later – a shared love for the James River.
Hardywood’s motto is ‘Brew with Purpose’, a philosophy that comes second nature to Eric and Patrick, especially when protecting the river that contributes to their beer making process. They bring to light how keeping waterways healthy is critical for our local businesses, especially those who utilize the river, and also share a beloved memory about adventuring beyond their business on the James.
