Story prompt: Write your own river story…

I moved to Richmond seven years ago and the James River has become a daily companion to me. It’s a dimension of living in Richmond I had never imagined. My home is in a south side neighborhood adjacent to the river and less than a five minute leisurely walk to its banks. I pass it each day as I leave and return to my house. A weekly walk with my wife takes me to Pony Pasture to experience the beauty of the changing seasons. Weekend trip often finds me again, adjacent to the river either downstream or upstream. I could not imagine being away from the river for any extended period of time. The James River has become an inspiration for my art and an integral part of what I call my home.
